
Artist's Profile
Karen is a freelance artist with an extensive background in art education. She uses a range of mediums with a focus on drawing, painting and mixed media. The themes in Karen’s work are diverse, however they are significantly influenced by the natural world, history and culture and the power of the imagination. Karen works from her Old Post Office Studio located in Newstead, Victoria from where she exhibits her work, presents classes and workshops and has available a range of quality cards and prints.

Teacher and Community Work
Originally trained as a secondary art and craft teacher in Melbourne, Karen has developed a rare ability to inspire and teach adults and children alike as an art teacher, artist in residence and practicing artist. She currently teaches art at both Maldon and Newstead Primary Schools.
Karen regularly works with residents, organisations and businesses to add colour and atmosphere to the local community. Projects include banners, signage and street decorations.

Nomination ~ Australian of the Year Awards
In 2009 Karen was awarded a nomination for Australian of the Year for her work as an artist and art teacher in the community.
